Training That Makes the Difference

020326_02

For the past three weeks, Clinton and our clinicians traded familiar footing for the wide-open Arizona desert, putting in long days and even longer miles with their horses. In all, four trailers carrying Clinton’s performance horses and outside training horses, including seasoned veterans like Prada and 2-year-olds just entering the program, made the journey out to Scottsdale.

Training in the desert and using the miles of dirt washes and natural terrain gets horses truly broke, confident and dependable in ways that riding in the arena just can’t. If you want to turn a good horse into a great horse, you need to give him three equal doses of long rides, wet saddle pads and concentrated training. There’s no better environment to do that in than on the trail.

“We may have left with a lot of young horses, but we came back with old ones. Steady miles make great horses,” Clinton says.

While they were in Arizona, Clinton and the clinicians didn’t just train—they also filmed. A lot. From real-time problem solving on the trail to practical exercises you can apply at home, they captured a variety of training tips designed to help you build a better partnership with your horse. Like always, we share the good, the bad and the ugly of working with horses, letting the training unfold naturally and not cutting anything out.

We’re excited to start sharing this content with you soon. Whether you’re looking to improve your horse’s fitness, sharpen his responsiveness, or simply gain a clearer understanding of the Method in action, these trail-training sessions offer valuable insights. So stay tuned, there’s plenty coming your way!
