Colt Starting Clinic Diary: Day Five

1101_01

This month’s No Worries Club exclusive follows day five of the Colt Starting Clinic with Professional Clinician Jeff Davis. On day four, the horses received their first ride and are now ready to progress their training and gain more experience under saddle. Today, participants will put the second and third rides on their horses. For the second ride, participants will continue to work in the roundpen with the help of a flagger on the ground, but they’ll gradually take over more control so that they’re cueing the colt and the flagger is participating less. By the third ride, they’ll be in the arena, riding in a group. Today’s focus is on continuing to build the horses’ confidence getting them to move out at the walk, trot and canter.
